This past weekend The West Coast Pinups travelled from the mainland to present the ‘Tiki Babes’ Pinup Pageant.
This event was held at the Second Annual Grease Gears and Grooves event hosted by The Roadmen Car Club at the Cowichan Fair Grounds outside of Duncan British Columbia
President of The West Coast Pinups Dixie Delight and her right hand girl Lolita DeVille presented an opportunity for a group of woman to come together to have an experience in which most would not have had before.
To be styled in the classic art of Pinup can be very life inspiring for a woman to see herself ‘dolled up’. Elevating your look gives you a completely different perspective of yourself. I always find a woman’s genuine beauty is truly showcased in the Pinup style as you can see in a Pinups eyes she feels beautiful, special and most of all confident.
The experience of a Pinup Pageant is quite different than the traditional idea of woman being catty to each other fighting for the crown. Rather the structure of a Pinup Pageant is more a sisterhood where each Pinup personally invests herself into her pageant sisters so each woman feels the support of the group and allows the day to be more than the event it’s self.
It is an overwhelmingly beautiful thing to see Pinups being together with other beauties that are being highlighted and no jealousy or angst. Rather friendship and support.
I do think there is a common thread. As all woman of any shape, size, colour can participate This is an opportunity for any woman to shine. Everyone wants to be seen, recognized and seen at some point in their lives and for a few of us finding ourselves to the Platform of a Pinup Pageant is more than the event itself.
Dixie Delight has done an amazing job in her career celebrating and encouraging woman to shine their brightest, all of her time and endeavours do not go unnoticed by us x
We are also super great full to Lolita DeVille for her very calm and supportive nature. Her own confidence inspired everyone to take a deep breath and laugh a little. Such an important thing to remember is to enjoy the day..!
Gary Keay also needs to be recognized for his contribution through his camera lenses. I believe that sometimes when we are in a big experience or moment we don’t see ourselves as we were. To have beautiful captures to see after the fact and save is remarkably important and you Sir are a gem and I do know too you have touched a lot of ladies hearts.
Prize sponsors for the Pageant were super generous and all contestants of the Pageant received a gift bag and this was for sure thoughtful and considerate that no one was left out.
Remember if opportunity knocks for you to try a Pageant I strongly recommend you take the leap of faith as it will be life changing for you.
I look forward to meeting you at the next one..!
Boss Mare Betty x
