The Second Annual Grease, Gears and Grooves 2017

Here we are Vancouver Island, this is going to be ‘The’ show to mark your calendars for as I believe this show will grow to be our Viva of the West..!

I was super excited to attend the Second Grease, Gears and Grooves as I had attended the first one and I had high hopes it was going to be a bit bigger and of course better… and it was..!

The venue is held outside of Duncan British Columbia at the Cowichan Fair Grounds. Access to the site is great and there was ample parking.

As I made my walk up hill to the Grounds I could already see some killer rides. The days events included a Show n’ Shine, live music, Pinup Pageant, Vendors, Pin stripping, Food and Beer Garden.

The lay out of the event was different this year and worked well for the space. Upon entry the Roadmen had their booth/ trailer set front and centre which was aesthetically pleasing.

From that point and to the right there was a road way lined with cars leading to the Dirty Devil Rat Rods.

To the left there were the Roadmen’s crew, The Greasers Car club and some independent car entries that spilled you to the main stage and further along the Vendors.

This event boasted a ‘Tiki Babe’ theme Pinup Pageant hosted by West Coast Pinups, President Dixie Delight travelled from the mainland with Lolita DeVille. There were 2 celebrity judges for the Pageant which were super exciting, the Island’s very own Bianca Bombshell and Theresa Rock.

The Rockabilly tunes were amazing. First were the Hell Katz and after the Pageant Six Gun Romeo took the stage.

I feel vendors help create ambiance and it’s good to see something new and what is available to purchase and support community.

Later in the day I would see Matt Michaluk of Air Ink set up doing custom pin stripping on cars to guitars.

The bar for this event had been raised and it was obvious by the response from the attendees. Due to my schedule I had to leave early yet the event ran till 11pm and I am sure there was good times to be had.

We will see you at the next one
