This one is coming straight off the cuff so to speak.. My style of writing is to not do so directly on the format of this site rather go about my day licking and chewing over what I have written YET FB has thrown me for a loop.
I cannot upload pictures and since I spend the greater part of my day yesterday preparing and taking pictures I wanted to get this particular series up..
Spirit is my main fur guy, he is a lot of things to me. First my friend and then a connecting energy to balance and remind me of my priorities in life. If you have read any of my other blog posts regarding journalling or “The Dress Metaphor” these will give you a better eye into what exactly I am talking about.
Any ways, Spirit is not a fan of picture taking and 2 years ago while trying to take pictures for the Rowena Pet Photo contest I made the decision to NOT go to him for pictures as he was not keen and you could see it in his body he was put out.
I find myself in a similar situation, trying to take cute Pin up pictures for a contest at the end of winter. Wanted to take them inside for the warmth yet being limited in photo locations.
We started inside which was a fail, I though the cat would be a well suited friend for the pictures yet looking back on what we captured I look like I was strangling him most of the time so we throw caution and our sensibilities and head outside. It is cold yet I want to not let this pass me by.
We head to the horses paddocks, I first start with Tadpole whom is not sure what I am up too and has no interest getting close, then Buckwheat whom is always willing to participate as there might be a treat involved for him and then last Spirit.
The first dress I had come outside in was a Rowena purchased dress meaning these pictures would qualify for the contest. I was wearing the white with black Polka dot.
Before I headed inside Spirit did show a small amount of interest when he grabbed onto my Triple 7 Kustom Bat sweater chain. As you can see I was a little taken back that he might find them yummy.
Once returning outside I bounced off the deck, skirt shifting and crinoline blowing I looked to the paddock and saw Spirit not sure of me so of course with a horse you head on over as exposure to scary stuff in a safe and fun way is good. I had changed into the reverse colour pattern dress that I purchased from another Vendor.
The series of pictures taken would later make me reflect. For they were really what I would have wanted to enter the contest with and yet it would not be as I am not wearing a Rowena purchased dress. What I did get from these pictures is the absolute love and admiration we have for each other and that as always in Spirit’s way he knew.
He knew these pictures were about us..xx
Oh no..!! What is this girl supposed to do?
This Exclusive dress is being featured by Rowena in Edmonton AB and on-line http://www.RetroGlam.com . Fantastic as this is my first stop in shopping..!
Simply I had to have her..! She has been much desired and often dreamt about colour pattern. See when you have a collection of dresses made from the same style yet different colours you start to day dream on what colours you would want to see next.
So you see I just could hardly believe my luck. Here she was for real; I was gob-smacked..!
I have said it before I am a reformed all black wearer although I do find myself falling back into this habit during the winter months when I am not wearing dresses.
What I was head over heels about the black polka dot on white background is that it added to a completely different look that is fresh and fun. I found it to be cheeky and cheery and felt this dress was going to be appropriate for an ample amount of wearing opportunities.
Honestly years before I would not have looked twice with the white on black and now I would have taken it as first pick. The white is very crisp and clean and the dress has a very striking eye catching quality that will have you stand out in the purrr-fect way.
There is lots of flexibility to play with how you style your dress as it does come with a white belt you can easily swap it for black or red to match shoes, cardigans and crinolines. I stayed with white and black for my initial try on yet my next wear I am going for the red..!
With every new dress you say this is my new favourite yet this one has really won first place..!
P.S Please excuse the wrinkles and crinkles in the dress, I simply could not wait and put her on straight from the delivery package.. xx
Winter is here in my neck of the woods so new dresses and pretty things hold off until spring. It is to cold to wear dresses and my attention is condensed and more focused on the horses needs.
All of the fore mentioned soon went out the window when I saw her come up in my news feed. There was another Exclusive PUG Heidi and this time being sold through Blame Betty in Calgary, AB.
I was thrown off track that morning and found myself distracted about the news.
This Heidi was all black with white polka dots and black belt. The advertising pictures would show a range of ladies wearing her and they all looked fabulous..!
My hunny suggested I get her and so this would inspire my first purchase from Blame Betty as well as my first online purchase. It was very easy to register to the site and complete the purchase of this Heidi. I was able to choose a shipping option and my dress arrived on the date it was forecasted to arrive.
I am not sure about other girls when you get a package such as a dress in the post you must try it on. Even with the minus temps and the wind kicking up something good I wanted to get outside and get a couple of snaps wearing it.
I am always a fan of black and white and I really adore this print as I can swap out my crinoline colours and shoes to make for a different look. I really am excited for spring now so I can really wear her.
I would pick one up for yourself before stock is low. I am not sure if they are one run stock so you don’t want to miss your chance to own one of these lovelies for yourself.. xx
If it were not for the stars aligning perfectly in my favour I am not sure I would have looked further into this special edition PUG Heidi dress. As I am a collector of Heidi’s and my preferred retail shop being Rowena’s, you guessed it. This would be my lucky dress ❤
Word was out that PUG released an Exclusive Heidi dress in a decadent Red Floral print. The catch was that there are only 2 retail shops in the world that have been stocked and are selling this heavenly creation, Rowena’s and Top Vintage. I picked mine up through Rowena’s and their website http://www.retroglam.com
If you are connected to any other Pin Up Blogs, Pages or Groups you may have already started to notice a wave of reviews of the “Limited” edition Heidi, or the “Exclusive” Red Floral Heidi from PUG.
I am not one for jumping on a band wagon yet I had to snatch this beauty up while she was presented to me. How could I not have her be part of my collection.
My desire and perspective of this Heidi is much like that of a connoisseur. Her soon rarity and the presence she commanded through picture I knew she was the right colour direction I wanted to own.
I find this print to be unlike the rest of the Heidi prints available and I love that no matter the print the Heidi always look slightly different.
So here I am yet another PUG enthusiast eagerly waiting on the Post to see if their new dress has arrived. I really felt with this dress she would demand a stepping out party.
Weather is soon changing for me up North and I want to have ample opportunity to wear her.
This is by far the most glamorous of the Heidi prints in my collection and so I am getting excited to see how she will look on me.
As I do not get post daily or delivered to my home I had to drive to my post box 2 times to see if she was in. Disappointed on my first attempt, I left empty handed. Not the second.
It was hard to concentrate on driving home with the white postal package sat next to me as I did not have a way to open it until I was home.
Upon opening the parcel I noted the fabric of this Heidi was a little heavier weight which appealed to me knowing it would hang just right. I was really excited about the bold floral, a loud splash of red and green this dress hands down will have you noticed.
I proceeded to collect shoes, belts and crinolines to figure out how I should wear her. I started with white shoes and crinoline, then to red shoes and crinoline and stopped. I am yet to try black shoes and crinoline yet know it will work so I am not too concerned.
I wanted to make sure the reds matched and the whites. The dress is a very white “white” so this is something to watch for as I am not sure the white worked as well as the reds.
As I am going to town tomorrow and finally have the opportunity to wear her out I am pondering my hair flower colour and hand bag to match. I do think this is the most feminine of dress colours and I wish I had a function to attend as this dress would be fitting in a variety of celebrations.
If you have the chance to pick one up I highly recommend her as I am sure she would look fabulous on a range of ladies and I know I was lucky to add her to my collection.
This morning I tried her on again as she was purchased and then I went to town in her as I liked.
Sitting pretty in Netti
After my introduction to Heidi by my husband and a long string of PUG Heidi dress purchases. My eye started to wander towards the fun and cheeky prints of the PUG Netti dress.
As I purchase all my dresses through the mail I swore I would never buy a dress other than the Heidi because I am not a fussy person. I have worked retail and would not want to bother a store and their staff trying to return and exchange dresses in order to find one that fits.
One day I just could no longer resist the temptation.
I went with the size I buy my Heidi’s 2XL as the Netti has the same circle skirt I knew I would be ok on the bottom it was my bosom I wondered about. My first Netti would be the Black Cowboy Print as it was most fitting that we have horses.
I waited on baited breath for the mail and the day she arrived I kept my fingers crossed as I drove home from the post box.
As this dress has straps I would not be able to wear my only piece of shape wear as the shape wear is a tank top style so I literally held my breath putting the dress on because I was on my own. No extra little bit of smoothing this zipper would have to pass my behemoth mounds and slowly the zipper went up.
It was nothing short of a GRAND celebration when the zipper met the top and the straps of the dress adjusted. I fell in love all over again. I audibly squealed in delight that not only do I have a different dress style to choose from this style fit me just as lovely and I was so happy.
The Netti is a bit more playful and the neck-line which gives the dress a completely different look than the plunging cleavage bearing Heidi. I also prefer the look of this style on me with a crinoline.
Swapping out belt styles and colours as well as sweaters, shrugs and crinolines makes for different looks of the dresses.
After purchasing the cowboy print I went on to buy the anchor print, the green and white polka dot and now I wait on the squirrel print, cat print and the tiki..!
My NEW friend Heidi..
There was a long stretch of time since I had the privilege of owning a dress.
A few years back I did have a decent collection of casual skirts that were the colour infusion in my closet full of black tops, cardigans and sweaters. The only accessory I would be found wearing were my brilliantly coloured hair flowers and that was me.
My mental space had not yet crossed the threshold, from being in a cute way to being more of a sophisticated or elegant styling. Dresses that were assessable to me were not appealing and so I eventually stopped looking.
After a trip to our nearest city I was spotted wearing my hair flower and it was suggested to me to check out a retail shop that specialized in Pin-Up clothing. Although I had been dressing with a pin-up essence, I was not really conscious of how I was styling myself.
My sub-conscious styling at that time came from the influence of magazines that my husband purchased to keep up to speed with his passion of rods. As we live in the country on a farm my daily attire is anything but cute and going to our closest town did not offer any help.
The day I met Heidi, well she was handed to me by my hubby. This version of her was of a black background and a strong and bright red and green cherry motif. She had red piping on her edges and I had never seen anything like her before.
I was urged into a fitting room where I would try her on. I had to ask for help in order to do up the long zipper on my back. I will never forget the embracing feeling I first had as her fabric caressed me and bound closer to my body as the zipper went up, up up.
I was a casual/comfort dresser with a lot of cute and so her fitted lines were defiantly different and I felt her on me. When I turned and looked in the mirror that first time, I was caught off guard and not really sure who I was looking at. I was glamorous and Heidi fit me in ways that I never saw myself as before, all of a sudden my body made sense.
The Heidi was one of many styles of dresses produced by Pin Up Girl Clothing, I would later discover the world of PUG on-line through their website and FB Page. Although that day I did not leave with Heidi, I did with a Deadly Dames Baby doll in skull print because she suited my foot wear at the time of purchase. The city centre Edmonton is 7 hours away from our home.
That day I declared that every time we come back to the city to check on my husband’s rod build, this Rowena’s on Whyte would be number one on my list.
By the time we got home my husband kept asking about Heidi, he wanted to know when she would be joining my closet and told me over and over again how great she looked on me.
It was the first time he was so eager for me to shop and buy clothing it really got me to thinking. I wonder now if he regrets this as my Heidi collection started with the Cherry Print and now boasts 9 other colours.
I soon discovered the shop (Rowena) that introduced me to Heidi would ship orders to me through mail. This opened a world of opportunity and the refinement of my Pin-Up look was now possible even living many miles away and in the middle of the country where the term Pin-Up is unheard of.
For my body style the best invested companion piece to this dress are crinolines/petti-coats. It is a must have for me under this circle skirt to accentuate my hour glass figure. I am in the market for a fuller crinoline than I currently have, I may even consider layering.
I just feel I don’t get the pay off of the dress unless I get a little oomph under it.
To keep the look of my dresses different and fresh I like playing with different belts, cardigans and shrugs. Swapping out my crinoline colour and my hair accessories . I even took up wearing wedges to commit to my look which was a big step from paddock boots (worn about the farm/horses) to then polish my feminine side.
Best check out Rowena’s for yourself, where they can accommodate your head to toe look..
My measurements are approximately
I do have a short torso yet longer legs and stand about 5’9.
I wear a 2XL and shape wear >.<
I am thrilled with this season’s colours and am excited to have them join me.. ❤
