Loungefly loves Hello Kitty.

I have said it before and I will say it again, LeOpArD print is tops on my list of favourites. At the same level of love is HeLlO kItTy.

I had the good fortune to make a stop at Rowena’s in Edmonton Alberta after a quick trip down.  It is always a pleasure to shop where everyone knows your name and the selection is geared directly it seems to your taste.

I had previously been on the retro glam website and had seen a bag that really caught my fancy.  Loungefly had come together with Hello Kitty and produced a line of wallets and bags with an embossed Hello Kitty print on the bag.

I had not really looked further into the Loungefly line as I strictly purchase through Rowena, so for me, shopping labels is based solely on what is in stock at the shop.

My mind was set on a patent red looking bag/tote with embossed Hello Kitty and I dressed to match.

Once entering the store I scanned the area and my eye settled on this desired bag on top of a rack and so I headed for it, on a mission I became focused and not really aware of what was around me.

Arriving at the rack I was a bit perplexed as my eye was captured by a similar shaped bag in leopard print and once my mind caught up to what I was seeing it became ever so clear to me this bag came in a leopard print as well, with the same embossed Hello Kitty’s.

With out hesitation I took down the leopard print bag and claimed it to be mine.  Through out my next couple of hours in the store I was not willing to put the bag down.

Once purchasing the bag I was given one that was wrapped very nicely in plastic and the bag itself was in another protecting bag.  It took me a couple of hours before I was willing to take it apart to look inside of it.

Yes that’s right I had not even looked with in the bag yet.

I have always been a girl that adores bags, maybe because they always fit.  I love details and quality workmanship which was very present in this bag.  The interior materials and the pockets with in the bag are functional and well thought out.

I actually let out an audible squeal in the car.

Now that I have been home I have looked further into Loungefly and I came across the following on their about section of their website.

LOUNGEFLY IS A SMALL TEAM OF PEOPLE WHO WORK LIKE CRAZY TO DESIGN AND SELL UNIQUE YET AFFORDABLE TEE SHIRTS AND ACCESSORIES.  WELL KNOWN FOR OUR SKULL PRINT TOTES AND WALLETS, WE HAVE ALSO GROWN TO INCLUDE A WIDE SELECTION OF LICENSED ACCESSORIES INCLUDING DISNEY, HELLO KITTY, PEANUTS AND TOOTSIE.

STARTED IN A SMALL WAREHOUSE IN 1998, LOUNGEFLY HAS BECOME A PREMIERE CONTEMPORARY ACCESSORY COMPANY CONSTANTLY STRIVING TO BE CUTTING EDGE AND CREATIVE. BASED IN SUNNY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, LOUNGEFLY IS AVAILABLE IN SPECIALTY STORES AND BOUTIQUES NATION-WIDE.

I came to see quite quickly that a lot of the licensed images that I find to be super CUTE are produced on merchandise by the company such as My little pony and Paul Frank’s, Julius.

This bag has officially become my everyday bag and even with it’s size I find it very functional, easy to carry and will hold all sorts.
On the drive home I finally un-wrapped her, sorry for the picture.. xx

Darling Dames, Skull Knuckle Duster Clutch

Darling Dames, Skull Knuckle Duster Clutch

I have always been a girl that adores bags, purses and handbags. One could say the one size fits all appeals to my senses and to me a handbag is like the cherry on top.

A woman simply cannot go wrong when completing her ensemble by carrying a stylish or statement type handbag. As woman we carry it all and because of that we should be afforded the cute or the gorgeous pieces depending on what appeals to you.

I recently acquired a new addition to my expanding collection of handbags and I can say I have never seen a handbag quite like this one and I do not own anything similar.

I like the look of the Brass Knuckle image as it lends to a cheekier look when paired with my Pin up items and with my tattoos.

The Skull Knuckle Duster Clutch at Darling Dames caught my attention.

The black PU leather clutch has a very unique and smart embellishment at the top/opening of the bag. The candy of this clutch bag is the Skeleton motifs that make up the shape of the “knuckle” which can be used as a handle and is also the clasp to open the bag.

Three of the knuckles are embellished skulls inserted with black rhinestones. One knuckle has a large black stone that encompasses the entire knuckle; if they could be removed they would make for fabulous rings.

When I received the bag and finally figured out how to open it (as the clasp is very smart and hidden) I was pleasantly surprised and impressed that the clutch was roomier than I had perceived from the website. The inside is lined and on one side a pocket and the other a zipper. I can fit a standard wallet in this clutch a cell phone that is in a survivor case and still have room to spare.

There is also a chain that can be used to wear the bag which has a clever little detail that allows the chain to rest unseen at the seams within the bag or you can bring the chain out and these little joints swivel and the chain is very functional.

My perception of this bag was really blown once having it in my hands and being able to appreciate the workmanship and the uniqueness.

This clutch came from Darling Dames, an on-line shop.

I came across their FB Page first and then I realized the Page was one of their social media platforms. I decided to go window shopping and found myself captured by a few items on the site.

I have often said that my purchasing experience is as important as the product I am acquiring. Owner Jessica Lewis was an absolute Doll and was willing to move heaven and earth to ensure my items were going to meet my needs.

She tells me the on-line store is growing and new merchandise is being added. Jessica has a background in Retail and Merchandising and Darling Dames was established in 2011 as a small physical retail shop in Taylor, Texas and has since moved on-line to reach a greater clientele.

Darling Dames boutique is a small start up that’s desire is to cater to woman whose style is strongly influenced by current fashion trends and to provide them a moderately priced trendy product in return. Darling Dames strives to meet concise customer service standards and it shows. You always want to return as a client when you are appreciated and treated like gold.

I would highly recommend checking out her site.. xx

Harvey’s Seatbelt Bag..!

We do not have much in the way of shopping in our closest town yet there is a little shoe shop that I have on my FB Page that allows me to window shop time to time on their current stock.

I have had the great fortune to drop in at the right time and pick myself up a great deal or a random set of cute new shoes. Their merchandise is very quality and high end and as of recent I have started to see some styles that are more appealing to the Pin Up style such as Iron Fist.

Again it would be love at first sight when “Good 2 Go” introduced me to the Harvey’s Seatbelt Purse. Wow I could not believe my luck when the images of these irresistible totes came to life on my screen my most favoured being a leopard print and a chequered print.

I had not gotten into the shop to see them for myself personally; all the while I was thinking how purr-fect a purse made of seatbelts for a car culture loving girl.

Before I had chance to get to town to see them I received the black and white chequered purse for my Birthday.

I received this bag in August and it is now 6 months later the quality of this bag is exceptional and I have found I have deemed this bag my daily driver. As I watch my other collection of purses slowly with out cause do to wear and tear my Harvey’s keeps up to the job.

When I went on the site I was kind of shocked to see how many styles of bags there were and I will for sure purchase another at some point. They are hardy and I appreciate this, as well as unique and distinct.

I need to find a colour that I can wear with my dresses as my bag as awesome as it is, is really the stand alone piece, the show stopper when wearing an outfit.

If you have the chance it is well worth taking a look at what they have to offer you never know you might find something you like.. xx

Harvey your so CUTE

A Show n Shine filled Summer..

A Show n Shine filled Summer..!

There is nothing better than a Show n Shine on a nice summer day. As we used to live on Vancouver Island, Show n Shines were a great chance to get out and see come Classic cars and styling.  We were spoiled to have the luxury of seeing several shows through out the summer months with large turn outs and varying types of vehicles.  The car culture is really up our alley as my husband is currently undergoing a rod build of his own.

Since moving up North and my husband’s new work schedule, getting to the local shows has not always worked in our favour. This summer is surely going to be one to remember. With great timing we were able to view the 2 Show n Shines available to us.

We as a family were super excited for the first event, our local Show n Shine.  There were about 30 entries. It happened to be the same day as Canada Day and as we arrived the Parade started and the entry vehicles started to roll out and pass us as they were the start the day’s events.

Compared to what we are used to seeing there were not as many entries, yet they still provided for a couple of photo opportunities and a quick fix of shiny chrome and gorgeous paint jobs.

This little Show n Shine in Fort Saint John was the chance for the kids to bond and appreciate with Dad the details he was pointing out to them.  With my husband’s rod build being executed to the standard it is, we all agreed that if his Bus was to be entered as an undergoing project it would have garnered allot of attention as it is really one of a kind.

I chose to wear my PUG Netti -Green and White Polka Dot with my Black and White Kiss Lock Lux de Ville with black accents and boy did I stand out in that crowd.. >.< Ooops, not.. 😉 I started in my wedges and quickly swapped out to my flip flops, good planning I brought them along.

The following weekend in the next town south of Fort Saint John is Dawson Creek, British Columbia.  It is known as Mile 0 marker on the start of the Alaska Hwy.

This is known as the largest Show n Shine in Northern B.C. hosted by the Mile 0 Cruisers Car Club and we were looking forward to a good turn out. As we drove to DC we were eager what we would see and really hoped for a better turn out than FSJ.

Once we parked and passed the barricades blocking of the main streets of town we were really impressed with the turn out of vehicles and the diversity of the makes and models. We even noticed a booth set up by So-Cal Speed shop..!

Cars had come from all over British Columbia and Alberta ( these are 2 neighbouring Provinces in Canada) The streets were lined on either side beautifully with cars and trucks parked on angles as the audience was able to walk down the center of main street admiring the collections.

For this show I wore my PUG Heidi –  Cherry Print with my green sparkle Sin City Motor Tote Lux de Ville and opted straight for my flip flops. Which was an asset as the temps rose to above 30 degrees and it was hot.

A local Rockabilly band the Dodge City Rockets were playing their tunes which really gave the show an awesome ambience as you could hear the band where ever you were.

From all the 300 + vehicles entered we only saw 2 VW’s entered, a square back and a bus.  There were undergoing projects on trailers and again this rose anticipation in my husband for his bus, maybe she will be ready for a little show or two next year.

These two events made for good summer memories and we look forward to the future when we will be entering our own vehicle into this shows as well as having the opportunity to travel and see other places as others get to see us.

Surprisingly a third event came to light while cruising FB. There was to be a Rockabilly Rumble Event in Hythe AB.  My husband and I planned to attend alone for our Anniversary.  I decided to go in my PUG Heidi – Mint Green and Black with my Femme Fatal Lux de Ville.  I planned on wedges and quickly put on flip flops when the location of the rumble was in a field.

We arrived and we were not sure what was what. We had a look at the couple of cars entered in the show n shine and then headed into the venue to watch the cars at the track as my hubby knew one of the drivers.

The smell from the food vendor Motley Que persuaded us in through the gates.

There were a couple of vendors set up so we headed to where they were. First we had a good catch up chat with Elaina Tuttle and Andrew Triebel of The Buzz Bin out of Dawson Creek.  The most recognizable shop in the North, they produce quality work and are seen regularly show casing their work at the Tattoo Conventions such as the up coming Alberta Bound Productions “Calgary Convention” held in the BMO center.

Next to them was Al Gervais Photography from Grande Prairie AB whom specializes in fabulously lit portrait styled photos of very polished and the like vehicles.

A good opportunity was had talking to both these vendors.

Unfortunately we were unclear of the lay out of the day so we left almost as soon as we arrived.  I would later find out that later into the evening 2 bands had played, The Dodge City Rockets whom I was really wanting to see perform again and Six Inch Lift .  There was also a fire performance by the Circus of Hell and the Sisu Belly dancer.

Thanks to Al Gervais Photography I was able to check out what I had missed online.

This day was not a loss for us as we ended up at Stuie’s Diner having some Beautiful pie.

Lux de Ville

If you love your retro and vintage inspired dresses the only way to complete your look is with a handbag that matches..

I first laid eyes on a Lux de Ville bag at my regular tattoo shop, there were a couple of styles for sale and at the time the bags in the shop had more of a tattoo alternative look.

I purchased a red bag with black spades and a chain across the front.. Once I was home with the bag I decided to track LDV down on the computer and I was beside myself with what I had found..

Why did I not know of these sooner..?

Since that time my collection has grown.. I also do not see an end to purchasing either..! With every season a NEW collection is offered with colours and styles this gurl cannot resist..

My second LDV was bought for me by my hubby at a Tattoo Convention.  The 1/2 moon Swallow Print Clutch that is my go to bag.  With Leo fur on the bottom, black bag with white sparrows it is versatile and easy to hold.

My collection would then grow to include the Sin city Motor Tote in Green Sparkle

Black and White Kiss Lock

The Getaway White Sparkle Kiss Lock

The most recent addition to the collection is the Femme Fatal in Black

They are one of a kind type bags and I found the quality fair and the price point is in-line with similar type retro pieces.. I remember receiving my first Pin Up looking LDV in the mail and I swore I would never buy another type of bag again..

I have always been someone that is keen on the details.. I appreciate the small things and my eye is attracted to symmetry which you get when an outfit is completed head to toe with complementary accessories..

I am committed to my Pin Up look when I am in public, I feel I cannot wear just any bag and that my LDV’s are my cherry on top..

I often get allot of comments on the bags and it is handy to have a few to coordinate with my dresses.. They clean up nicely with a quick spray of Vinegar..

I have purchased all but the one bag from Rowena’s in Edmonton..

Check them out.. ❤
